Are my card transactions protected?

Card purchases with your Algbra card are protected by the Mastercard Chargeback scheme.

Updated this week

Algbra card purchases are protected under the Mastercard chargeback scheme. This allows you to dispute a transaction in a range of situations, including (but not limited to):

  • Goods or services not received

  • Goods or services not as described or faulty

  • A refund not being processed

  • Duplicate or incorrect charges

  • Unauthorised (fraudulent) transactions

The best thing to do is to get in touch with our team if you've had an issue with a card transaction, and we'll let you know if a Chargeback can be raised.

Before raising a Chargeback, we recommend that you first try to resolve the issue directly with the merchant.

In many non-fraud cases, Mastercard may require evidence that you have contacted the merchant and attempted to resolve the issue. We may ask you to provide this when we raise your case. However, this may not be necessary in certain situations, such as if the transaction is fraudulent or the merchant is no longer contactable.

Once a Chargeback is raised, the merchant typically has up to 45 days to respond. If the merchant disputes the claim, the process may take longer to resolve and can take several weeks.

We will keep you updated on the progress and status of your case throughout.
